Pinnacle Care Ltd is committed to providing training and continuing development for all staff. We recognise that it is our staff who determine both the quality of our service and the success of the company. We are therefore committed to training and developing all staff to enable them to fulfil their roles effectively.
We have a dedicated Learning and Development team, who support the home managers to identify staff learning and development needs. Essential training is delivered in-house and further specialist training is out-sourced where required.
There is a comprehensive induction and training programme for all new staff. This follows Skills for Care, Skills for Health and NHS Health Education England Care Certificate Standards where staff need to demonstrate understanding and practical competence against those standards.
On completion of the Care Certificate and induction managers follow quality assurance procedures and conduct performance reviews and supervision; these are all overseen by our training team, ensuring that all staff develop to their full potential.
We place a high priority on training staff to understand and care for people living with dementia. All staff, whatever their role is, attend a Dementia Awareness Course within their induction.
Many of our staff go on to attend our in-house Person-Centred Lifestyle programme, designed in line with the VIPS Framework. This includes:
• Person centred communication
• Utilising cognitive capacity, strengths and needs
• Life story and getting to know the person with dementia
• Relationships, activity, occupation and fun
• Working with families
• Maximising freedom and choice
• Helping people who have extreme distress and complex needs
• Developing supportive and interesting environment
• End of life care
We also offer apprenticeships and diplomas at levels 2, 3 and 5 relevant to staff roles.
If you have any questions about our training programmes, please do not hesitate to send us an email and we'd be happy to answer them.
